Crofton Pep Band wins Battle of the Bands

After a competitive contest, the Crofton Warrior Pep Band came out victorious against Ponca and Bloomfield on Friday, January 31.

The Warriors have been practicing for this competition for weeks. Junior Darin Babcock stated, “It was very cool and fun to win and see all our hard work pay off.” The Warriors also took home the Best Fan Base Award with the Crofton fans raising the most money, over $1,600.

Each band played seven songs which were judged by Carrie Jensen, Dr. Wade Howles, and Zac Konrad. There were also some “special” contests held in between each song played, the first special contest held was the Best Horse Whinny, which was won by Bloomfield. The second event was the Best Train Whistle, which Jack Schieffer from Crofton ended up winning.

The third event was Musical Chairs, where each team sent two contestants to compete. Coming down to the final two people, it was Tyson Jackson and Pamela Dennis. Unfortunately Tyson ended up getting disqualified, giving Pamela the win. The fourth event was the Best Tuba Line, and Bloomfield came out on top.

The fourth and final event was the Best Drumline. Ponca's Drumline ended up with the win. Also in between each song played, the raffle prizes, Erin Filips ended up winning the grand prize of a Yeti cooler and $300 to Kleinschmit Locker.
