Bringing home seven medals, including one first place medal, the Crofton Speech Team got sixth overall as a team at the Hartington-Newcastle and Cedar Catholic Invite on Saturday, February 1.
Jack Schieffer, champion of varsity entertainment, won with his art inspired speech. Being a senior this year, he said his goal is to, “Make something that people can watch and think wow, that was genuinely a really great speech.”
Cecelia Wortmann and Kaden Arens got first in JV duet with their school-themed duet. “I think for the beginning of the season we did really well and we can always grow better with working together.” Wortmann stated, “Altogether it was a very good start.”
The varsity OID, consisting of Grant Schieffer, Jack Shcieffer, Katie Neuharth, Madelyn Loecker, and Sophia Wortmann got 3rd place. Katie Neuharth and Sophia Wortmann got 5th place in varsity duet, and Grant Schieffer got 5th place in varsity humorous. In JV extemporaneous, Cecelia Wortmann placed 4th.
