Crofton Community leaders recently joined with the C4K organization that is helping to find unique or new ways to solve the issue so many communities face, lack of childcare services.

C4K is a large regional organization of schools, communities, businesses and state organizations that are working to find a solution to the rural childcare shortage.

Most recently, to that end, the City of Crofton has released information about a new “Early Childhood Quality and Capacity” survey that Crofton and area residents are being asked to fill out to help the organization obtain information to leverage into programs.

The questions reach out to the “greater Crofton” area – Fordyce, Lewis & Clark Lake area, Bloomfield, Yankton and other listings of communities.

The survey is completely anonymous and will be used to compile information in search of solutions to the childcare.

One question in particular asks respondents to indicate if they know anyone willing to start or operate a daycare as well.

Licensing and quality of daycare is a theme through a number of the categories as well for providing high quality daycare.

For those daycare providers that exist, a number of questions are about if they are licensed, what may have stopped them from obtaining their license, and if they would be willing to get their state licensure.

Questions about retirement for those providing daycare also round out that section.

After the first 50 questions, there is another section for “everyone” – indicating education level, number of children, demographic information for 54 question entirely.
