The Creighton-Bloomfield-Plainview Senior Legion Titans baseball team finished out their season with the C-1 Area tournament in Hartington last week, falling in two games.
The Creighton-Bloomfield-Plainview Titans were seeded second heading into the tournament with an 8-9 season before facing Ponca’s team on Friday, July 21 and Wisner-Pilger-Dodge-Howells on July 22, finishing their season at 8-11.
Despite leading by as many as four runs, Creighton-Bloomfield-Plainview Senior Legion to Ponca’s Senior Legion team 7-4 on Friday, July 21 in the first round of the C-1 Seniors area tournament in Hartington.
The C-B-P boys opened the scoring in the bottom of the first, getting on the board with a single from Ty Diedrichsen.
The Titans then scored again in the third with another three, before Ponca rallied to score three in the fourth inning, three in the sixth and one in the seventh to close out the game 7-4 against the Titans.
Scoring for C-B-P were Tanner Frahm, Rece Frahm, Cody Wickersham and Spencer Hille, off a single from Ty Diedrichsen, long fly ball by Kayson Maertins and a double on a fly ball to right field.
With the loss, the Titans dropped to the bottom bracket in the double elimination tournament, to take on Wisner-Pilger-Dodge-Howells in what would be their final game of the season on Saturday, July 22.
The two teams were pretty evenly matched, but a strong 1-2-3 lead by Wisner’s team put the score out of reach for the Titans, who scored one in the second, two in the fourth, one in the sixth and two in the seventh.
Wisner’s six-run start in the first three innings kept their lead, 9-6, after the final pitch was thrown.
